What is Pulse MCP?
Pulse MCP is the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server built into Pulse, our privacy-first web analytics. MCP is the open standard AI assistants use to call tools in other software. With Pulse MCP connected, your assistant can read your site's reports, findings, pages, sources, funnels and search data directly, instead of you exporting CSVs and pasting screenshots into a chat.
It is MCP-native, not a bolt-on: the same reports and findings that power the dashboard and the weekly email are what your assistant reads, with the evidence and confidence attached. You choose the model. Pulse supplies the data, the analysis and the tools.

How it works
From raw events to a to-do list you can trust
Pulse collects lots of complex behavioural data. Pulse MCP makes sure what reaches your AI is already analysed, explained and backed by evidence.
- Step 1
Collect
A cookieless script records pageviews, clicks, scroll depth, forms, site search, web vitals and errors, masking personal details before anything is stored.
- Step 2
Analyse
Every day Pulse rolls the raw events into daily, weekly and monthly reports and runs 28 finding rules over them, with significance tests and minimum sample sizes so noise doesn't become a finding.
- Step 3
Explain
Each finding carries a plain-language interpretation, the evidence and comparison window behind it, a severity, a confidence level, and suggested next steps.
- Step 4
Act
Your assistant reads all of it over MCP, cross-checks it with the tools, and turns it into a prioritised action list for your business. It can record what you changed as a note on the timeline.
- Step 5
Measure
Next week, compare_periods and the "effect of a page edit" finding tell you whether the change worked, with the numbers to prove it.
Example
Ask a question. Get a plan.
An illustrative conversation. The assistant calls Pulse MCP tools for the data, then reasons over it with your business context.
What changed on my site last week and why? Give me the top fixes.
Sessions fell 18% week over week, and the drop is real (significant against the previous 7 days). Almost all of it is one source: your newsletter link stopped sending traffic on Tuesday. Everything else is flat.
Top fixes this week
- Restore the newsletter link. It sent 412 sessions the week before and none since. Check whether the link in Tuesday's issue was removed or changed.
- Fix the dead click on /pricing. Visitors keep clicking the plan headers, which do nothing. Link them to the plan details.
- Rewrite the /features title. "privacy analytics" sits at position 9 with 3,100 impressions: reaching the top 3 would add roughly 150 clicks a month.
Want me to add a note to the timeline once you've made these changes, so next week's report can measure the effect?
More things to ask
- “What changed on my site last week and why?”
- “Which pages have rage clicks on mobile?”
- “Compare signups this month with last month. Is the difference real?”
- “Where do visitors from the newsletter campaign drop off?”
- “Which search queries are close to page one, and what should I rewrite?”
- “Give me the five highest-impact fixes for this week, with evidence.”
Tools and prompts
Everything your assistant can call
Every tool reads data, scoped to the organization you connect; only annotations can write, and only a timeline note you allowed. Results come back as text your assistant can quote and structured data it can calculate with.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| list_sites | Your organization's sites with their hostnames, consent mode, time zone and goals. |
| get_report | The daily, weekly or monthly report for a site, or the portfolio report across sites, including the period still in progress. |
| get_findings | Tracked findings with severity, evidence and status (new, persisting or resolved). |
| page_detail | One page in depth: traffic sources, engagement, section attention, element clicks, next pages, web vitals and search queries. |
| compare_periods | A metric in two periods, with the change and a significance test. |
| top | Top pages, entry and exit pages, devices, referrers, channels, campaigns, elements, search queries, errors or goals. |
| paths | Where visitors go next from a page, or from the entrance. |
| search_terms | Site-search terms, plus Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster queries where connected. |
| funnels | Your funnels, with per-step sessions, conversion and drop-off. |
| annotations | Reads the site's timeline notes, and with your permission adds one to record a change the assistant made. |
Coming later on Growth and Business: query_sql, read-only SQL over your organization's summary tables for questions the tools don't cover.
Built-in analysis prompts
weekly_review
Reviews the latest week: the report, open findings and the change from the week before with a significance check, then suggests notes to add.
investigate_change
Diagnoses a traffic change: compares periods, rules out outages, locates it by source and page, and checks your timeline notes.
monthly_report
Prepares a monthly report: month over month, top sources and pages, findings and notes.
The prompts only read data. They suggest timeline notes, and add one only after you say so.
Findings
28 findings your assistant can act on
Each one comes with a plain-language interpretation, the evidence and comparison window, a severity and a confidence level, and suggested actions. That is what makes the answers specific instead of generic.

Why MCP-native
Dashboards and copy-paste vs Pulse MCP
| Topic | Dashboards and copy-paste | Pulse MCP |
|---|---|---|
| Getting an answer | Open the dashboard, pick reports, filter, export, paste into a spreadsheet or a chat. | Ask your assistant in plain language. It calls the tools it needs and answers with the numbers. |
| What the AI sees | Whatever you copy into the chat, without context or significance. | Findings with evidence, comparison windows, confidence and suggested actions, straight from the source. |
| Is the change real? | You guess, or eyeball two lines on a chart. | compare_periods runs a significance test and says whether the difference is real. |
| Which model you use | The vendor's built-in assistant, if there is one. | Your own: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP client your team already uses. |
| Closing the loop | Changes live in someone's head or a separate doc. | The assistant notes what you changed on the timeline, and next week's findings measure the effect. |
Connect your AI
Works with the assistant you already use
Add the URL as a connector, sign in to Pulse, choose your organization and approve. Pulse supports standard MCP sign-in discovery and PKCE, so compliant clients need nothing else.
Claude (web, desktop and mobile)
Add a custom connector with the Pulse URL, sign in to Pulse and pick your organization.
ChatGPT
Add Pulse as a remote MCP server in developer mode, with OAuth sign-in, on plans that offer it.
Claude Code
One command: claude mcp add --transport http pulse https://pulse.w7ech.com/mcp
Cursor
Add the URL to mcp.json and complete the browser sign-in.
VS Code
Add an http server to mcp.json; VS Code opens the sign-in for you.
Any MCP client
Any client that supports remote Streamable HTTP servers with OAuth sign-in, or an API key header.
claude mcp add --transport http pulse https://pulse.w7ech.com/mcp{
"mcpServers": {
"pulse": { "url": "https://pulse.w7ech.com/mcp" }
}
}{
"servers": {
"pulse": { "type": "http", "url": "https://pulse.w7ech.com/mcp" }
}
}Scripts, servers and headless agents can use an organization API key instead, sent as an Authorization: Bearer header. Stored reports are also available as Markdown or JSON over plain HTTPS for agents without MCP.
Security and permissions
Your AI gets answers, not the keys to the building
Sign in, no key to copy
Connect by URL with standard MCP OAuth sign-in (PKCE). Pick one organization per connection and approve. API keys remain available for scripts and headless tools.
Read-only unless you say otherwise
Read access is always included. Adding timeline notes is a separate, optional permission. A connected app can never change settings, sites, goals or funnels.
Scoped to one organization
Every tool is scoped to the organization you picked. The assistant can't see other organizations you belong to.
Disconnect at once
Settings, Connected AI apps lists every connection with its last use. Disconnecting stops it immediately; revoked API keys stop working within a minute.
Protected from rogue web pages
The server rejects browser requests from any origin other than Pulse's own, so a malicious page can't borrow a key stored in your browser.
Privacy-first data underneath
Pulse sets no cookies by default and stores no raw IP addresses and no form values, so that data never reaches your assistant either.
Included with Pulse Growth and Business
Pulse MCP comes with Growth (from $19 a month) and every Business tier. No per-query fees and no AI markup: you use the assistant you already pay for.

Pulse MCP questions
What is an analytics MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants call tools on other services. An analytics MCP server like Pulse MCP lets your assistant read your website's reports, findings and traffic directly, so you can ask questions in plain language instead of building reports by hand.
Which AI assistants work with Pulse MCP?
Any MCP client that supports remote Streamable HTTP servers: Claude (web, desktop and mobile), ChatGPT in developer mode, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and others. Which apps can add custom connectors, and on which of their plans, is up to each app.
Can I use my own LLM?
Yes. Pulse doesn't bundle a model. You bring the assistant your team already uses and pays for, and Pulse provides the data, findings and tools it works from.
Do I need an API key?
No. In most apps you add https://pulse.w7ech.com/mcp as a connector, sign in to Pulse and choose your organization. API keys are still available for scripts, servers and clients that can't do OAuth sign-in.
Can the AI change my website or analytics settings?
No. A connected app can read reports, findings and traffic, and, only if you grant it, add notes to your timeline. It can't create, edit or delete sites, goals, funnels or settings.
What does the assistant see about my visitors?
Only what Pulse stores: aggregated traffic, page and element statistics, findings and reports. Pulse is cookieless by default and stores no raw IP addresses and no form values, so there is no such data for the assistant to see.
What are the built-in prompts?
Pulse MCP ships ready-made analysis prompts: weekly_review, investigate_change and monthly_report. In apps that support MCP prompts you pick one, fill in the site, and the assistant runs the whole analysis.
Which Pulse plans include MCP?
Growth and every Business tier include AI assistant access through Pulse MCP. Pulse is coming soon; join the early access list to hear when it opens.
